Relationship of Social-Cultural Adaptation, Emotion and Health Related Quality of Life in Married Female Immigrants

Abstract
Objectives:The purpose of this study was to investigate relation of social-cultural adaptation, emotion and health related quality of life in married female immigrants.

Methods:A descriptive research design was employed. Data were collected from 133 immigrant women who lived in two provinces. Subjects were completed the following questionnaires: cultural adaptation, emotion status, and quality of life related health. The data were analyzed with frequency, correlation, ANOVA, by SPSS.

Results:The average age of subjects was 34.7 and the average age of their husband was 44.9. 40 Subjects (30.1%) were coming from Philippine and the average of staying in Korea were 7.31 years. Immigrant women¡¯s social-cultural adaptation, emotion and health related quality of life were influenced by the age of subjects and the age of their husbands, and residence period in Korea. There was a positive correlation between health related quality of life and social-cultural adaptation and between health related quality and emotion.

Conclusions:Ultimately, nursing intervention to increase health related quality of life. of immigrant women in Korea should include program to increase social-adaptation and to support emotion.
